New Car!

I got a new car on Friday. I had to train in my Honda which was really sad, but I praise the Lord for my new car. i have bee npraying for 2 years that god would provide a car for me and He did in His timing. I was able to get a Ponitac Bonneville 1999. It has 68,000 miles. It is really clean and it was driven by a 80 year old guy. I am pretty pumped. I also got a new computer for work which was pretty exciting and fun. I realized and was reminded that they are all temporary things and will fade away. Col. 3:1-4 was really challenging to me and reminded me that I need to focus on Christ and He is enough and totally satisfying. I dont need anything else to satisfy or fulfill. I am hid in Christ, raised with Christ, sealed in Christ. good night!!

Wisconsin Christmas

Had a great time in Wis. Got to see all my sisters and go four wheeling. Dad got 2 4 wheelers so we got to go riding a lot. We had just enough snow to go sledding and tubin. The kids loved it . WE stayed a t a cabin overnight in the woods with the older kids and it was ablast. Stayed overnight adn had bacon and eggs and hashbrowns. Sweet time. We went to Gaspers and played Half Life o n4 computers. I got cleaned. It was great to see everybody and spend time just messing around. I made a movie on mom and dads new emac computer. it was a ton of fun and learned alot. We put it on a DVD. It took us 9.5 hours to get home because we stopped like 4 times. the kids were ready to get out. We head to Ohio on Sat. to go to a conf. for youth workers and are taking all 3 kids. The trip takes 11 hours. Oh that will be a joyful ride. Pray for patience and loving attitudes. I am doing a workshop which i have never done b4. it will be a learning experience. Happy New Year. Baby Grant

Chad and Sarah Aspengren had a little boy on Wed. night. Grant Ryan was 8 pounds 8 oz. Everyone is doing good. We went and saw them at the hospital last night. good times. I hurt my ankle really bad playing bball with the fellas at church. it is not broke. it is feeeling better today. I thought i might have borke it. It made this horrible ripping , tearing sound and everyone playing heard it. I worked today because i didn't work on Wed. because of my ankle. I think i might make a bowl of popcorn and start watching Spiderman while i wait for Jess to get home. she is out with her mom at Applebees. We dont have naything going on tomorrow which is amazing. I might go wash windows for Mike huffard. We will see. I read Philippians 3 today, wow Paul was a godly man. Good night

Pastor Deacon Christmas Party

Went to eat at the Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City. Good eats. We had the whole place to ourselves. Terase VanRheenen watched the kids. She did a great job. Then we went to the Subras house and got to see where the church plant meets on Sundays, We had dessert and coffee. Holiday mint coffee, yum!!! Pastor gave all the men. leather gloves to remind us to work hard for the Lord. Marliyn gave each ofthe ladies a gift as well. Very thoughtful of them and lots of money spent. We got home at 11:15 p.m. wow kind of late but expected. Good times of fellowship and laughter. I am speaking in Grandview chapel tomorrow to the Jr. High and the Sr. High. Oh Lord give me the words to say. i am not!!!!!! I' m tired but I had too much Holiday Mint. I read Philippians 4 today. It was good. 4:6-7 be anxious about nothing.....

Bible Study

Had a great time with Austin today. We finished the John studies. He is really learning and growing. It has been a joy to watch him grow and learn. Very cool. Then after that i met with Hor hay and we talked about the Planet Wisdom weekend. WE had good discussion about being a leader and getting more involved in ministry. Jessie had a Mary Kay meeting tonight, I watched the kids and watched some home video. good times. We didn't have the youth kids over tonight because i just needed to hang out with the kids and spend some time with them. It started snowing tonight and is snowing right now. It is really pretty. We have prayer tomorrow at the Boersma's house. Probably wont be too many peeps there. I am looking forward to going to Wisconsin and 4 wheelin and hangin out and relaxing. Good night!

Planet Wisdom 2005

We headed to St. Paul MN on Friday and went to the Planet Wisdom Conf. this was our 3rd straight year going to conf. we had a great time . We studied Ecclesiasties. What is life all about? We had a great discussion at the church on Friday night. It was the best honest and true conversation we have ver had in our youth group. It was sweet. Praise the Lord. The kids really opened up and were honest and even disagreed with each other and talked through some good issues. We need to do more of that. Where the kids get an opportunity to share and talk and let our what they are thinking and not be embarassed. We had a great time. I am really tired. i fell asleep during the Packer game today. Man the packers are horrible this year. I hope Farve goes out on a good note. It is good to be back with my fam. We had the Christmas Program tonight. Isaac sang with the 2 and 3 yr olds. well he really didn't sing, but he smiled and didn't cry or run around the stage so I was proud of him. Went over to Zach and Jess's house for pizza and dessert. good times. Ike and Bryce wrestled. Peace out, Jessie is telling me she is going to bed.

SNOW!!!

We got 4 inches of snow yesterday. I took ike and claire out in the snow today. they played while i shoveled. My back hurts!!! We are going to Planet Wisdom tomorrow. I am excited!! Should be good time. Oh i finished Blue Lilke Jazz last week. Great book, really made me think and challenge me. Had 180 this morning, we only had about 10 peeps show up, but it was really good discussion.

Austin

On Sat. night after Revolution, Drubie and Josh Byers and I went to Village Inn and ran into a Ankeny High kid named Austin. We had met b4 at church because he came a couple times B4. I asked him what his spiritual beliefs were and then set up a meeting on Thursay. We met at Starbucks at Hy Vee. I took him through the marked New Testament and then asked if what he read on the back cover was what he thought. He said yes and that he kind of had done that b4. We had great dialog and he was very interested and asked good questions. I finally asked him if he knew where he would go if he died and he didn't know. I then said you are at a cross road and either you accept the free gift of Jesus or reject it. He then said "oh, are you like asking me to make a decision?" i said "yeah" he leaned back in the bench and said "i want it" Austin trusted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on Thursday Sept. 29, 2005. I praise the Lord for the opp. and the joy that i saw in Him. He was on his way to hell and now he will spend eternity in heaven with God. WOW !!!

Katrina Relief

Kevin Thomas, Drue Wolfe and Brad Funkhouser are heading down to the coast to help with relief for some of the churches down there. They leave tomorrow at 2 p.m. from Faith. It is very exciting to kind of be a part of this huge undertaking.
I have really done some soul searching and asked what am i willing to give up to help. Tonight Jess and I wnt through and gave a bunch of stuff to drue to take down there. it is a great feeling to give. i can be such "take" kind of guy. I have so much, i am so spoiled. Thank you Lord for all that you have given us, we are so blessed.

Family time

Mom and dad are here and Hannah and the kids. it has been a great time. we went to jordan creek and let the kids play. they loved it. jess and hannah went shopping for the kids. dad and i went to sheels with claire. we ate at taco johns and wendy's. got too much food. i ate it all. i am way full.
the ladies went to kohl's. dad and i are holding down the fort. i think dad and i are going to camp out in the back yard with the 4 older kids tonight. it should be fun. nice night for it. they are leaving sometime tomorrow. it is nice to have the day off and just relax.

Why do we do it?

Why do we do it? Why do we go through the pain? why do we go without sleep? Why do we pay $50? Why do we put ourselves through poison ivy? why do some of us go through the crashes? I guess because we enjoy the challenge, the thrill of going fast, the thrill of riding on the edge, the thrill of riding at 2 in morning with a light on our heads.
The 3rd Annual 24 hour mtn. bike race was on Sat. and Sun. We did way better this year. The team was drue wolfe, lucas bair, adam welch and abe. we had great weather, great fellowship, great stories, great wipe outs. No sleep. But i will do it again next year. Mom and Dad came to see the start of the race and then that night, jessie and teresa and the kids all came up. zach and jess came up too. Oh by the way my butt really hurts and need to get new biking shorts.

Biking in Boone

Last night, Adam and Tanner and i went biking up at Boone at 7 oaks. Adam drove in his big truck. this was the first time i rode with tanner and his new epic bike. It was a great night for riding. we ledt at 5:15 and took off riding at 6 or so. Tanner took off and then adam and i followed. i had a good ride. i put my front tire on backwards and it didn't pick up on the computer which was a bummer. It was fun getting to know those guys. we have our big 24 hour race on sat. and sun.
Drue hurt his foot, so we will see if he can ride.
Hurricane Katrina is really bad. could takes years to get things back to normal. Lots of people dead and stranded.
Had youth group tonight. it went well and we broke up into our small groups tonight for the first time.

I started potty training Isaac today...again...still no true sucess...but we will plug away tomorrow. i was a bit frazzled at the end of th day so Abe took me out to eat... with the kids and they were angels. It was a nice , quiet evening inspite of our exhausting day.
We'll try to have better success tomorrow.

Family update

This is my blog. Well, our family blog. I need to give props to my good buddy Drue Wolfe who got me hooked on the blog idea. Thanks Drubie. To keep the family informed and updated on what is going on in our life. Just celebrated isaacs's b day on sat. night. Had a load of people and little Isaac friends over. grilled brats, burgers, and dogs (hotdogs) Good times were had by all. We had the kids find candy and prizes . Ike got a lot of presents which was really nice. The kids played with all the toys. Then we had a fire. Roasted marshmallows and all the kids got high on mellows. they were gooy and sticky and loving everybit of it.

Jessie is doing great. She is busy, but doing great. The kids can be a handful. It is only through the power of Jesus Christ that she makes it through each day. Madalyn is doing well and no problems as of right now. We had Claire checkec to see if she had thing wrong with her and she came back all good. Praise the Lord!!!
